Brave Lion, Brave You book cover

Ralph, the Lion, mistakes a train for a snake. He is relieved to discover he had nothing to fear after all.

Rain No Evil

In Michele Zirkle's debut novel, Rain No Evil, lead character Savannah needs more protection than her police officer husband can provide when a few demons infiltrate her life. As one demon soaks the interior of her home, another pops up in her mirror. Just knowing that an evil presence could be buried within her skin almost scares the hell right out of her. Almost. It takes a lady with divine light to do that.

Based on true events, Zirkle's novel has been described by Bram Stoker award winning author Michael Knost as, "Wickedly funny, yet profoundly sincere and thought provoking."

"My spiritual awakening sparked a desire to find my life purpose and wow, did my life change!" Michele notes. "I created a happier, authentic me by working with a shamanic healer and life coach. I learned to manifest my dreams and you can too!"

Great Book Written By An Amazing Person, I Highly Recommend!

After hearing Michele's interview on Coast to Coast AM, I had to read this book! Michele's awakening is an inspiration to us all. Facing fear of the unknown and dealing with ridicule, is some of what many that experience the supernatural deal with. I do think most are grateful to have a peek beyond our reality. Michele proves herself to be so transparent and descriptive, of a period in her life that has had its mixed blessings. When you have extraordinary paranormal events in your life, as I have also, you feel compelled to let others know of these things taking place. Michele does more than that. She allows us to be privileged to her most inner thoughts and day to day life. These paranormal events end up being something that affects each aspect of her life as she tries to integrate it all. In her case, she's had many witnessing some of these events with her. This had to be a bit of relief for her. Like many believe, things happen for a reason, just remain open minded. I really hope for more to be published by this author. She keeps you wanting to read more, describing things with such clarity and honesty. You may find, as in this story, the metaphysical has a profound affect throughout our lives. If I was half the writer Michele is, I'd be writing of my own experiences!

At first you may not believe ...

At first you may not believe but you will as the author draws you in and you feel you are right there experiencing these very odd events. This is a hard to put down book but when finished you are sad to see it go I hope there will be a sequel . Absolutely one of the best books I've read I'm awhile and I'm an avid reader. Do yourself a favor pick this book up and put it on the top of your reading stack.

Emotional Story

Rain No Evil by Michele Savaunah Zirkle Marcum contains a great juxtaposition of evil and goodness. Here the author writes about the fight to find the good even in harrowing times. Alex and Savannah Templeton are going through a difficult spot in their marriage, mainly due to infidelity. Savannah asks God for guidance, but receives an answer she may not be ready for. Rain No Evil is based on a true story, and the author uses the present tense narration and dialogue to pull the reader in and make the story even more explosive. With elements of a horrible marriage and lots of verbal abuse, along with paranormal, demonic random happenings, this is a unique story. The writing feels cathartic for Marcum, enabling her to tell the story. The descriptions are well written, the scenes are well captured, oftentimes the book is quite revealing on a personal level. Overall, an emotional tour de force that pulls the reader into the story.

Paranormal events do exist as this novel based on the author's experiences will prove.

Paranormal events do exist as this novel based on the author's experiences will prove. It is the story of a woman who is unhappily married to a man she loves. It takes a whole lot of cheating on both their parts to recognize that she has to leave the marriage. As a matter of fact she didn't even realize that she was being abused--her husband never laid a hand on her--the abuse was verbal which can actually be a whole lot worse! Her husband was a police officer and I know a couple of women personally who married then divorced them--For some reason there are some that can not leave their jobs at the office--the anger follows them to their homes!! This book will take you through the haunting of their home by a malicious spirit through to the realization that she has to change her life. It is rather long but should keep you interested as it did me. The next time something goes bump in the night and/or strange occurrences happen--look into yourself for the devil that lives within!

Interesting read and subject matter

The book suggests that negative situations can attract negative interruptions from perhaps the paranormal. This is an idea I’ve heard before when studying spiritualism, so it was something I could understand within the story, despite it being a topic I’m not used to seeing featured in a book. It shows differing opinions on such instances, and also highlights more issues within their family unit. It was a well-written story, and a book I can see was written from a woman who has experienced these events in her life as it’s based on true events, and wants to empower and educate others on how to handle such a situation as a difficult verbally abusive marriage. Some readers may relate to Savannah and her situation, and be able to take some comfort and message from this story. Others may find the subject matter of interest in general. I liked the journal entries that Savannah wrote as escapism, and you can’t help but love her two children Ben and Isaac. Good read, and ideal for reader empowerment.

An Intriguing Read

I have to be honest; I struggled with this book. The opening of the story jumps right into a marriage on the rocks that has infidelity and mental, verbal, and emotional abuse. It was a long read and there was a lot of religious aspects. With that off my chest; I will say, it was not a bad read. If you can push through that, you can find a good story. The story follows Savannah and her family through a very troubled, very unhealthy marriage, and personal conflicts that tend to show themselves in reality. It was almost as if the more Savannah questioned her faith and go against what she knew was right and wrong, the more the negative would show itself in her life. Enough so that others could see it and experience it. Personally, I struggled with Savannah throughout most of the story. I felt she was weak to tolerate what she did and I was really rooting for her to wake up and see what was happening. About a quarter of the way into the book is when I felt it got interesting and was a story that pulled me in. If you don’t believe in the spiritual or paranormal activities, this may not be the right book for you, but if you are open minded; I think you will find this to be a good read!

Really Interesting Book

Do you believe in the paranormal? I do! I am a big believer in the super natural and demonic. I have never really read a book on this topic (besides the Bible), so it was nice to dive into one. I enjoyed how raw and real the author was. You could truly feel and envision what was going on in her life at the time of the events. For me, personally, the scenes of her infidelity were a little too much.....but again, that's from a personal level. I'm not one to read "naughty" stories haha BUT it was interesting to know exactly what her struggles were and why she was doubting God. So, I understand the adding specific and intimate details of her life, marriage and decisions. This is a great book to get more insight into demonic hauntings and how they can truly effect and change lives. Definitely a book to pick up, read and take seriously.

This is a page turner ... give it a go

This novel found its way into my collection for two main reasons. First, I'd heard about Michele's nearby speaking engagements and wanted to support a local writer. Also, the nature of the demon oppression in this tale was unique to my experience and I wanted to hear more. Now, this particular watery manifestation may not sound eerie, but wait until Michele leads you into the story in her special way. Part of that “special way” is the author’s use of present tense narration and dialogue for her protagonist (Savvy) and supporting characters. This can be difficult to maintain, but it’s done skillfully throughout and helps the reader become swiftly “immersed” (so to speak). There’s more. The demonic influence oppresses the family in multiple ways – not just tormenting them with jets and sprays of water from nowhere. There are other infernal exhibitions, but Michele imparts extra “spookiness” to these by having them mostly witnessed by her children. It’s their innocent revelations that can raise the hair on the reader’s neck, wondering what else the children may have seen (or sensed) that they’ve kept to themselves. All the main characters are brought fully to life through Michele’s skillful dialogue and narrative. The few supporting characters that need to be fleshed-out serve to advance the story nicely. This is a well-paced novel with two cautionary tales interwoven. First, do not tempt God. Second, do not marry down.

— Matt Burchett

Powerful Story

Rain No Evil is a powerful story of a struggle between good and evil, temptation and abstinence. I was genuinely impressed that this was a debut novel - the words flow so easily and the descriptions are vivid without being overpowering. You can feel the narrator's struggle within herself, and her desire to be a good and faithful wife and Christian woman, despite the demons that appear to be surrounding her. There is a strong religious element to this, so I would caution any readers who are uncomfortable with that against reading this. Overall a great, page-turning read.
